Making a Difference: Due North’s Journey to Raise £2,024 for Charity in 2024

At Due North Creatives we are a small but driven marketing agency in the North East of Scotland. We hold a vision close to our hearts: to make a positive impact on our local economy and the lives of those within our community. With this vision in mind, we have embarked on a fundraising journey in 2024 aimed at supporting charitable causes that resonate with our values and aspirations.

As a team we are passionate about leveraging our collective skills and enthusiasm to contribute meaningfully to our community. This fundraising initiative is not merely a series of events; it represents our commitment to making the world a bit better, one challenge at a time.

Join us on our social channels as we share the exhilarating experiences and heartfelt moments of our fundraising efforts throughout the year. From daring abseils down iconic structures to endurance walks and uniquely, offering a drop-in marketing surgery for local businesses, each being undertaken to create positive change and support those in need.

Follow our journey as we strive to raise £2,024 for these worthy causes and leave a lasting impact on our community. Together, we can make a difference.

Our Chosen Charities for 2024

There are so many charities doing remarkable work across Scotland, so it was tough to choose but as a team, we came together and decided on the following four incredible charities that we wanted to support in 2024.

Inspiring: RNLI

Celebrating an incredible 200 years of saving lives at sea, the RNLI provides essential lifeboat search and rescue, lifeguards, water safety education and flood rescue across the UK.

As a team primarily based along the coastline of the North East of Scotland, we appreciate the inspiring bravery and dedication of the volunteers who risk their own lives to save others, while battling the harsh elements of the North Sea.

Some of our team have loved ones and friends who have been saved by this incredible charity, which relies solely on donations to be able to operate this vital life-saving service.

Stronger Community: Montrose Community Trust

Utilising the power and widespread appeal of football to inspire change, Montrose Community Trust are a fantastic local charity who are looking to make a real impact to the lives of those living in Montrose and the surrounding areas.

With many of our clients based in Montrose, and having volunteered at Montrose Community Trust events on an annual basis, we’ve seen first-hand the impact of these initiatives and how they contribute to building a strong community.

By fundraising for the Montrose Community Trust, we’ll be supporting initiatives such as:

  • Montrose Connections – A weekly social club that supports anyone living with mild-moderate dementia and their families.
  • Walk & Talk – A walking club aimed at tackling physical inactivity and social isolation.
  • Free Kicks – A football programme aimed at young people offering free hot food and football every Friday.
  • Football Fans in Training – A 13-week programme to help people improve their relationship with alcohol and make healthier food choices.
  • The Changing Room – A men’s mental health and wellbeing initiative.
  • Festive Friends – A festive lunch for socially isolated older adults, as well as delivering a Christmas hamper, consisting of a meal, gift and goodies, to the doorsteps of elderly adults that may not be able to attend the sit down meal.

Close to Our Hearts: The Archie Foundation

Operating across Tayside, Grampian and the Highlands, The Archie Foundation provides a variety of exceptional care and support services to transform medical experiences and their outcomes for babies, children and their families.

The charity’s aim is to ensure all children across these regions have equal access to world-class healthcare and bereavement support, this includes:

  • Supporting Maternity and Neonatal Services
  • Specialist Training and Equipment
  • Creating Child-Friendly Environments in Hospitals
  • Financial Support
  • Providing Hospital Accommodation
  • Archie’s Child Eereavement Service
  • Supporting Play and Providing Toys/Activities including special guest visits.
  • Providing support and resources to Allied Health Professional teams.

The Archie Foundation is close to our hearts, as a team, we’ve all been through challenging times where we’ve been sick ourselves, visited ill family members in hospital or sadly lost loved ones – it’s incredibly tough and often stressful experience which unfortunately many people will be able to relate to.

We can only begin to imagine how it must feel for those who have sick or dying children, or have sadly lost a child, and know that the incredible work that the the Archie Foundation do means that those in that situation will have access to the support they need.

For the Greater Good: The Prince’s Trust

Started by HM King Charles III in 1976, The Prince’s Trust (soon to be known as the King’s Trust) aims to improve the lives of young people (aged 11 to 30) in the UK, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The pandemic had a significant impact on young people, many of whom lost out on some of the most fundamental years of their lives where they would have developed their skills and confidence.

At Due North, we truly believe that skills can be taught, and support the Prince’s Trust core mission that ‘every young person should have the chance to succeed.

By raising funds for The Prince’s Trust, we’ll be supporting their confidence-building programmes, skills development courses, careers advice and business enterprise and start-up programmes which hel[p young people across Tayside get a successful start in life.

Our 2024 Fundraising events:

1. Archie Abseil for The Archie Foundation (27th July 2024)

With 50% of the Due North Team terrified of heights, we thought it’d be a good idea to kick off our team fundraising efforts with an abseil down Aberdeen’s Kings Church Tower.

This stands proudly at 130ft so our abseiling challenge, known as Archie Abseil is not one for the faint hearted, but with fancy dress welcome – how could we refuse?!

Let us know your suggestions on a theme for the team?

2. Dundee’s Kilt Walk for RNLI (11th August 2024)

We’ll definitely be breaking in our walking shoes for this one!

For the ultimate test of endurance (and friendship), the team will be donning our kilts and taking on The Mighty Stride at this year’s Dundee Kilt Walk.

Our fundraising journey will be 21.5 miles, taking us from Dundee, around the coast of North Fife before arriving at our destination of St Andrews.

What better way to celebrate 200 years of the RNLI?

3. Barry Buddon Half Marathon (28th April 2024)

On a more personal note, Amanda started our fundraising off by achieving one of her 2024 goals – running a half marathon.

After months of training and a rather tough run, Amanda crossed the finish line at Barry Buddon Half Marathon on the 28th April 2024.

Oh did we mention, she raised an incredible £785 for Montrose Community Trust in the process!

She absolutely smashed it! If you’d like to add to the total, give her a donation here!

4. Ride the North Cycling Challenge (24th August 2024)

Amanda’s not stopping with a half marathon, she’s gearing up to complete one of the North East of Scotland’s biggest cycling events – Ride The North.

Starting in the historic town of Arbroath, Amanda is set to cycle 100 miles around Angus taking in the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains.

Using a whole lot of pedal power, Amanda is hoping to raise vital funds for The Prince’s Trust.

5. Drop-In Marketing Surgery (Autumn 2024)

Due North Creatives team carrying out a marketing session and talking to clients.

We are super excited to be hosting our first ever Drop-In Marketing Surgery in Autumn 2024.

This will be the ideal opportunity for young, ambitious businesses to discover how they can grow to the next level with the power of digital marketing.

The team will be on hand to share our expertise, answer any specific questions you have about your marketing in aid of the Prince’s Trust.

Oh plus there’ll be coffee and cake – what’s not to like? Keep an eye on our socials to grab your tickets!
